Kulture Teach Theatre & Writing Workshops

Picture
Kulture Teach Theatre & Writing Workshops are designed to provide an informal, yet extensive training on the craft of playwriting, with a specific emphasis on African American theatre.  Within these workshops, participants will craft their own scripts from concept to final draft.  The mission of Kulture Teach is to discover and present a new era of innovative playwrights in the independent Black theatre arena.  At the same time, Kulture Teach workshops can be scaled down for the purposes of providing a comprehensive educational overview for those interested in learning more about Black theatre and its key players.

Kulture Teach can be customized for adults as well as teens ages 14-17.  For teens, this workshop will provide a host of advantages for participating students.  Based on a micro-curriculum, Kulture Teach for Teens will enhance cultural education, improve self-esteem, strengthen communication and public speaking skills while also enhancing creative writing and professional development.  For adults, the workshops will offer a supportive environment for aspiring writers as well as give them the structure needed to create dynamic concepts and scripts for the stage.

Kulture Teach has a six to eight week intensive and it is highly recommended that participating students and individuals complete the entire workshop series.  Your commitment level is vital.  Playwriting should not be considered a simple hobby because of the integral components in script development.  This is a major investment in your craft, therefore, you owe it to yourself to be dedicated to completing the workshop.  At completion, you will receive a certificate and an opportunity to have your script reviewed by Chandra Kamaria and possibly produced as a main stage production.
