Kulture Teach Theatre & Writing Workshops

Kulture Teach Theatre & Writing Workshops are designed to provide an informal, yet extensive training on the craft of playwriting, with a specific emphasis on African American theatre. Within these workshops, participants will craft their own scripts from concept to final draft. The mission of Kulture Teach is to discover and present a new era of innovative playwrights in the independent Black theatre arena. At the same time, Kulture Teach workshops can be scaled down for the purposes of providing a comprehensive educational overview for those interested in learning more about Black theatre and its key players.
Kulture Teach can be customized for adults as well as teens ages 14-17. For teens, this workshop will provide a host of advantages for participating students. Based on a micro-curriculum, Kulture Teach for Teens will enhance cultural education, improve self-esteem, strengthen communication and public speaking skills while also enhancing creative writing and professional development. For adults, the workshops will offer a supportive environment for aspiring writers as well as give them the structure needed to create dynamic concepts and scripts for the stage.
Kulture Teach has a six to eight week intensive and it is highly recommended that participating students and individuals complete the entire workshop series. Your commitment level is vital. Playwriting should not be considered a simple hobby because of the integral components in script development. This is a major investment in your craft, therefore, you owe it to yourself to be dedicated to completing the workshop. At completion, you will receive a certificate and an opportunity to have your script reviewed by Chandra Kamaria and possibly produced as a main stage production.
