From Lena Horne to Pearl Bailey to the Jazz songstresses of yesteryear like Ella Fitzgerald, Dina Washington, and Nancy Wilson, Black glamour has been a definitive statement for decades. Over the years, we have watched the essence of Black glamour shift to a more modernized, perpetually risque look but the days when Black women adorned sleek, flowing gowns, pearls, diamond earrings, and fur stoles are not discussed enough.
Black fashion pioneers such as Anne Lowe and Zelda Wynn Valdes crafted Black femininity that rivaled Eurocentric beauty standards in every way. They dismissed the downtrodden imagery of Black women primarily featured from the early to mid 20th century by creating a sultry version of Black womanhood that upended those stereotypical maid and mammy personas.
With that in mind and to pay homage to this era of Black feminine elegance, I designed this vintage Black Glam Accent Pillow. It's a perfect pop of nostalgia and a cushiony reminder to always aim for your best presentation. The pillow will be a welcomed and comfortable addition to your favorite reading chair or sofa. Her soft gaze downward shows off her winged eyeliner while her curls catch a brilliant sheen. Full painted lips complete the natural, well-accentuated makeup. The black and white polka dots give the pillow an even more classy style.
